HSEQ

HSEQ POLICY

At Nova Shipyard, HSEQ is not a compliance checklist. It is the standard by which we build, manage, and protect from first drawing to final delivery.

Our HSEQ Vision

We believe that a shipyard that takes safety seriously builds better vessels.

The discipline required to protect people attention to detail, clear procedures, accountability, no shortcuts is the same discipline that produces quality workboats.

At Nova Shipyard, these are not separate values.

They are the same value, expressed in everything we do.We are committed to continuous improvement across all four pillars of HSEQ, and to operating as a yard that our clients, our team, and the wider maritime community can trust.

Health & Safety

A Safe Yard Is a Productive Yard

Health and safety is a core management responsibility at Nova Shipyard not delegated to a department, but owned at every level of the organisation.

We maintain proactive occupational health and safety practices, clear site rules, structured toolbox talks, and a safety culture where raising concerns is expected and acted upon.

Since our establishment, Nova Shipyard has maintained a strong OHS record with no major work accidents. This is not a coincidence it reflects sustained discipline, investment in safe working conditions, and a workforce that understands why safe operations matter.

Our OHS framework covers:

  • Risk assessment and hazard identification across all work areas
  • PPE compliance and enforcement
  • Emergency response planning and regular drills
  • Subcontractor and visitor safety induction
  • Incident reporting, investigation, and corrective action tracking

Environment

Responsibility Beyond the Waterline

The maritime industry is undergoing a fundamental shift in how it approaches environmental impact.

Nova Shipyard has taken an active position in this transition, not as a regulatory response, but as a genuine commitment to building vessels that are cleaner, more efficient, and ready for the operational demands of the next decade.

Our environmental approach operates on two levels:

In the yard:
We manage waste streams, control hazardous material use, and apply responsible practices in surface treatment, painting, and fabrication. Environmental compliance is integrated into our build processes, not treated as an afterthought.

In the vessels we deliver:
Nova Shipyard develops and integrates full-electric, hybrid, and diesel-electric propulsion solutions across all project types. Our energy engineering process, covering duty cycles, peak loads, hotel loads, and turnaround constraints, ensures that operators receive propulsion systems that genuinely reduce emissions and fuel consumption in real operating conditions.

Every project is an opportunity to move the industry forward.

QUALITY

SO 9001:2015 — Certified by Bureau Veritas

Nova Shipyard operates under a BV-certified ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System. Every stage of our build process design, procurement, fabrication, outfitting, testing, and delivery follows traceable, documented procedures that ensure consistent output and continual improvement.

Quality at Nova Shipyard means our clients receive exactly what was agreed: on specification, on schedule, and built to perform in the conditions it was designed for. We do not compromise on materials, welding standards, or inspection protocols.

Our QMS gives our clients the assurance that accountability exists at every step of the build.
