DOOLIN FERRY

Cliffs of Moher Express (NB111) is a 32.21-metre marine grade aluminium high-speed passenger vessel delivered to The Doolin Ferry Co. for passenger services along Ireland's iconic Wild Atlantic Way. Designed by Mer et Design and built by Nova Shipyard, she is the largest and most advanced vessel ever to operate from Doolin.

With a capacity of 300 passengers and a maximum speed of 22 knots, this state-of-the-art ferry combines cutting-edge technology, sustainable innovation, and unparalleled passenger comfort. Built in full compliance with EU Directive 2009/45 Category B regulations under Irish flag with Bureau Veritas classification.

Powered by twin Baudouin 16M33.3 engines (2,100 hp each), paired with ZF 5055A gearboxes and CJR fixed-pitch Class S propellers, the propulsion system delivers extremely low vibration, reduced noise, high efficiency, and smooth thrust — crucial for sightseeing operations along the Cliffs of Moher.

The vessel features Humphree stabilizer and interceptor systems for enhanced passenger comfort in Atlantic sea conditions, advanced battery technologies enabling quiet emission-free electric mode in harbours and sensitive areas, roof-mounted solar panels, a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system meeting IMO Tier III emissions standards, and a retractable canopy on the upper deck for panoramic all-weather sightseeing.

A full yacht-standard fairing and painting system executed with AkzoNobel products gives the vessel exceptional surface quality and long-term durability. Additional features include barrier-free passenger access with a dedicated disabled lift, full Wi-Fi coverage, premium sound system, climate control, and onboard bar and snack shop.

Passenger Comfort & Design

The vessel features a spacious upper sun deck with open seating for scenic coastal cruising, a fully equipped navigation bridge with state-of-the-art electronics, and an interior designed for 300 passengers. Built to EU/2009/45 Category B standards and operating under Irish flag.
